Community Health Responders
People in every community can learn practical skills that help them recognize health concerns, respond safely to emergencies, support wellbeing and connect others with professional services.
CHMHFA develops a network of trained community members who serve within the limits of their training and help strengthen local resilience.
What Responders Do
Recognize
Notice signs of health, mental health or emergency concerns and understand when a situation requires urgent professional help.
Respond
Take appropriate, safe action within the responder's level of training while protecting dignity, privacy and safety.
Refer
Help people connect with appropriate health, mental health, emergency or other professional services when needed.
Who Can Become a Responder?
CHMHFA is intended for people who want to build practical community health skills, including community volunteers, youth, caregivers, local leaders and other community members.
The training pathway begins with Foundation training and can progress to more advanced community health leadership and mentoring.
